According to Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors, August home sales in Southwest Michigan were the highest they have been since 2007. 325 houses were sold and closed during the month and year to date home sales are up 8.3 percent compared to this time last year. According to the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors (GRAR), home sales in West Michigan increased 7.5 percent in pending sales compared to August 2012. According to the Michigan Department of Education’s rankings of schools released this week, Kent County school districts have eight schools ranked in the 99th percentile of schools statewide. The rankings are based on overall performance based on student performance in mathematics, reading, writing, science and social studies.
